Volunteers are the life blood of NIKELA
What draws someone to volunteer for a virtual charity? Each Nikela Volunteer has their very own reason, like Heather who we spotlight this month.
Coming Back To Make a Difference
As a little girl, her heart belonged to the wild side…
Heather P. Shreve, author and wildlife artist, fell in love with East Africa back when she was 19 years old (learn of her adventure: Caught On The Equator: Finding The Fire Within), as she experiences the beauty of the land, and the darkness of the illegal ivory trade.
Years later when it was time to look for ways to help the wildlife of Africa she found NIKELA via Twitter.
She did not hesitate to make contact. After inviting Margrit to write the Foreword for her book, she offered to help spread the word through stories and powerful images. She knew that she could make a difference because everything always starts with ONE.
She volunteered to illustrate and format POACHED! for publishing on Amazon and Kindle. This is Dr. William Fowld’s story about his heroic attempt to save a rhino.
Heather enjoys when her art tells stories of animals living in peace and harmony, and most importantly, how it starts with us.
Our environment, flora and fauna, are critical to our survival. The killing of our animals is sending us to our own destruction. That is why; we should set the BAR higher. Start today and spread the word, that our wild animals in Africa are important to us, to our children.
If you have the passion and the willingness to join the buzz, to stop the killing of animals in Africa, then you can help too.
If Heather, from the USA, can change the opinions of people, one person at a time, by being a good example, and by demonstrating her passion through art, expressing her ideas through words and stories, then maybe you too have that wild passion to get involved.
