Oh how we love you Khumblane. From the beginning he’s been a natural but Baye needs help to pay his wildlife guardian wages.
Here’s more about him so you can feel as honored as we are to pay his wildlife guardian wages. A 6 month commitment so far but we would like to make it permanent.
When you’re around Khumbu you smile a lot and enjoy the animals. But trust me, his real magic is helping Baye build and work this important Rescue Rehab Release Center in Zimbabwe. For the first few years he was her only help and is still her right hand man.
In the beginning, Baye went with him to find a place for Free to be Wild as she would call it. Next was building Khumbu’s accommodations where he would care for Umfoze the orphaned baboon that started it all. Amazingly within 2 year they created an effective sanctuary while taking care of all the animals Baye was rescuing rehabilitating, and releasing.
“It’s a nice job and I am very happy,” he says smiling. A soft spoken man with a heart for wildlife. What a joy to watch him grow into this very effective hero.
Maybe you’d like to hear more from him:
When asked, “Why do you like to work here?” he said in his broken English, “To work with the wild animals. I like it because I make many friends with the animals… baboons, monkeys, everything. Umfoze was my first friend to look after.”
One Christmas Nikela awarded him a $100 for his remarkable contribution to Wildlife. He immediately thought of the animals. “I could buy some small things for my friend Azulu (a monkey) and the baboons.” Luckily, he was happy to get things for his own children as well.
Baye says he used to work for a Safari company. When they offered him his job back at more money he turned it down. When asked why, he said, “No, I never leave you.”
Now Khumbu is very pleased his wildlife guardian wages are secure. And Baye so very thankful. She said, “Huge huge pressure off us. Beginning of the month all we do is aim to pay our staff. So this is amazing. Thank you guys for your support through the years and for always coming to visit. Thank you for the help you do for everyone. Other organizations just like us. To be honest you impact us so much because we are a small organization and it just means so much to us what you do.” Meet Baye Pigors our youngest wildlife hero.
Thank you Baye Pigors & Khumbulane for building Free to Be Wild. We love helping heroes like you with big hearts to help our wild friends in need.
Please help Khumbu with a monthly donation so we can keep him with his friends. If 25 of you give $10/month or 12.5 🙂 giving $20. We could cover his wildlife guardian wages long term.
Thanks for Saving Africa’s Wildlife by helping people saving wildlife.
