It may start off innocently enough. However, it ends in the ultimate human betrayal.
The Ultimate Human Betrayal
A lion cub is born in captivity. He is snatched from his mother and raised by a human. This human lets him out of his small enclosure to be petted and cuddled by other humans. Photos are taken. The little cub gets very tired and confused.
As he grows up the petting continues, until finally one day he gets too big and too dangerous. He is moved to a larger enclosure. It almost seems semi wild. He is just adjusting to his new home when he hears his human calling him.
He is happy to see his human and lopes off towards her. Then there is a loud bang. He feels a sharp pain and falls down before he can reach his human. As he lies there feeling increasingly weaker he sees a large man hand something to his human. Then this man with his rifle kneels down beside him. His human takes a photo and his eyes close for the last time.
This is really happening
In South Africa lions are bred for the bullet. While they’re growing up they are used in the cub petting industry. Unsuspecting tourists are led to believe they are engaging in wildlife conservation when they pay to pet a lion cub.
Once the lions are too large for petting they are set up to be killed by a trophy hunter. As they are accustomed to humans they run towards, not away, when their killers come to call.
Can anyone not see how this arrangement is nothing short of the ultimate human betrayal?
