Second Wind or life begins after sixty living in our car and loving it.
A new series on our blog for the not so young,
Your life is good. You have enough money for your needs. So why on earth would you want to live in your car for six months… especially if you and your partner are in our 60’s, or more?
Because it is awesome that’s why. Give me a chance to explain!
Bottom line you can live visiting the best parts of Africa in a fully kitted (outfitted) Land Rover sleeping in a roof top tent (sometimes amongst the lions) and enjoy most of the comforts of home. It is known throughout the world as OVERLANDING.
Sure its camping but with your own four wheel drive you and your fridge can go anywhere you can possibly imagine; from the depths of the Kalahari to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro… well almost everywhere.
Oh the places you will go, the people you will meet, and the cultures you will experience. Is there a bit of room in your life for some adventure? This is definitely not your standard couch potato experience or writing your memoirs of the life you had. It is a true second wind experience especially if you combine it with giving back wherever you go.
I know, your partner may not be the rugged type, doesn’t like to get dirty, and likes to be pampered. Not a problem. Most nice Lodges have camping associated with them where for $15/night you still get most of the amenities of the Lodge including Wi-Fi. Oh, and did I mention that our roof top tent has a queen size bed and total screening for stargazing and wild game viewing?
Isn’t it dangerous out there? Sure. Are there scary places in your country too? You will learn to avoid, or cope and gear yourself up for the new but scalable challenges awaiting you. Like lions and elephant in the camp maybe!
Believe me it’s good to get the old heart pumping faster once in a while and there are plenty of travelers along the way willing to share their insights online or in person… Like me for instance.
Wouldn’t it be a shame to miss the adventure out of fear? And I will show you how truly inexpensive it can be.
So, you got it? 6 months traveling in Africa or wherever you feel like it and 6 month in your homeland visiting the grandkids and yes traveling and of course giving back.
Oh the places we have gone (and are going.)
Try it you won’t be disappointed.
Enjoy the day… and do good!
