Poaching Death Toll Passes 100
After only two months of 2012 the rhino losses are already horrendous. This endangered species will once again soon hover on the very brink of extinction. As of this writing another 8 carcasses were found.

Desperate Poachers
Did you hear about the museums? Yes, the poachers are even hitting museums to poach the horn off dead rhino! How desperate is that?
Sniffer Dog, Helicopters and Arrests
The more sophisticated the illegal traffickers get the more the good guys need to get creative in fighting them.
The Use of sniffer dogs and helicopters, with even talk of radar equipment, being put to use to catch the poachers. However, the best news is always when the bad guys get apprehended before a kill.
Rhino Survival Stories
Most don’t, but a few rhinos have survived the brutal assault on their faces. We’ve in particular been tracking two stories. One in Fairy Glen and the other at Kariega Reserve, they are both touching and heartbreaking.
Dr. Fowlds expresses concern about a new pain for the rhino. As drug supplies deplete more rhinos may survive, or at least struggle to do so for a few days at least.
