Have you read that article going around the internet that lists the things the next generation of children will never know? The one that talks about them never knowing phones that are attached to receivers, or video tapes or things like that?
Well, I have been thinking about that as well. The thought struck me, my kids may never know what a Rhino looks like in real life…
What will that mean when we have to go to a history museum instead of the wild to see what a rhino looks like? What will it be like when documentary film makers monologue the following: “Great beasts once roamed these plains, but now, there is only still quiet.”
I was just reading an interesting article from treehugger.com talking about the rise in rhino poaching. Did you read that clearly? The RISE in rhino poaching. The article claimed that poaching is at an all-time high, record setting even.
I don’t know about you, but this is absurd. Are we going to be the generation that finally destroys the rhino? Is that really going to be our legacy?
I suggest that we look deep inside ourselves and reconsider our current path. You will find a list of things you and you and I can do to help the rhino and any other endangered animal by going to this post I did earlier this week.
