Moses loves wildlife.
Like many of our heroes it happened by ‘accident’. As a child he watched gorillas in the mountains near his granny’s village.
Today he is committed to rescuing the highly endangered pangolin from the gruesome wildlife trafficking market.
Almost single-handedly he snatches one pangolin at a time from being sold off to Asia. In the last fourteen months he has been on fifteen rescue missions. Most of them in the last few months. Thirteen ended successfully with the pangolin being released back into the wild.
It was in early 2017 that we final met up with Moses in his village outside of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. We’d met on Facebook several years back. I’d followed his efforts to stop wildlife poaching by reforming poachers. Somehow he convinced them to turn in their spears for a shovel and take up farming. Quite successfully I might add.
