Wildlife in Africa, leopards, big cats, birds of prey, African birds, primates, baboons and vervet monkeys.
It’s been a little over a year ago that Nikela was founded to change the world! I say that tongue in cheek of course. You know how it is; it’s like falling in love for the first time or getting a driver’s license. That invincible, California or Bust feeling!
Nikela is not a wildlife conservation organization per say; however, we are all about protecting and preserving wildlife in Africa, including birds of prey. Nikela does not do this via direct involvement, Nikela runs no conservation projects, what Nikela is about however, is helping people saving wildlife.
We identify conservation, rescue/rehab experts with a strong desire to train up and inspire others to protect wildlife. These experts generally run small private nonprofits that with a little bit of financial help can expand their reach and impact tremendously.
The need for helping those who protect wildlife is much larger than we’d anticipated. Getting organizations qualified, projects certified and copy written for our website has taken longer than we’d ever imagined, not to mention raising money for them. You see, Nikela is not a foundation or a fund, but a public charity totally reliant on people like you who love wildlife and like to donate online.
As we’ve gotten our feet wet, experienced a fair share of bumps and bruises this past year, we’re happy to say that we’ve come full circle. Our entire organization is run by volunteers, God bless them, who give of their time and expertise driven by their passion to protect wildlife.
You’ll be seeing some changes to the website in the next couple of weeks as we simplify and streamline your experience on the site. The experts who will remain or be included are Anton (taking over from Will), Karin, Silke, Nola, Shannon and Ian. Their projects protect leopards, baboons and the vervet monkey, the magnificent birds of prey and provide education to curb animal poaching.
To get involved consider a donation or volunteer an hour a week, either way stay current with stories from the experts and their projects, sign up using the form below on the right.
