It was a tough start for this little duiker named Mars. And this past month he was transported to his happy release site at a local wildlife sanctuary.
In the autumn of 2017 the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authorities brought the sick duiker to Free to be Wild. He had fluid on his lungs. His survival required some serious TLC. With the help of a modified nebulizer, amazing vets and staff like Khumbulane his condition improved. Soon he was roaming freely around the centers gardens. It was at that time, during a monthly wildlife warriors camp that some of the kids called him Mars, and the name stuck.

Today Mars lives free again. Lives free to do what wild duikers do in the bush.
Baye and her team at Free to be Wild rely on donations from folks like all of us to rescue, heal and release wild animals like Mars.
