Oh the People we’ll meet. Oh the Wildlife we will see. #NikelaAfrica Russ and Margrit are off to Africa again helping people saving wildlife.
Many thanks to Eric with Mount Carmel Films for producing this marvelous video.
After five years of running Nikela we’ve learned that we’re not very good fundraisers, but we’re pretty darn good at sharing stories.
Well, we’re not wealthy, but we want to do some good for my homeland and its beautiful wildlife. So, we live rather inexpensively on wheels. While in the US our home is a 38′ RV and in Africa it’s a old Land Rover, which you’ll get to meet in an up coming episode.
For the last couple of months Russ has been planning routes, checking border requirements, figuring out access to cash, watching weather patterns and on and on and on.
I’ve been connecting with wildlife conservationists, rangers and people doing good for wildlife for us to meet in person and introduce to you.
I’ve also been coordinating with volunteers like Pallavi, Eric, Khris, Elizabeth, Mina and Christine to get the stories, videos and photos out to you.
For the next several months you can ride along with us as we meet more people like Shannon, Peter, Vincent, Silke, Marnus and those who are totally dedicated, passionate and committed to protecting Africa’s iconic beauties.
Now it’s time to pack as few clothes as possible yet having enough variety for cold, hot and sticky, intense sun, days of rain and deadly mosquitoes all in one duffle bag.
And of course you’ll join us in viewing some of the most amazing animals and birds on the planet, not to mention share in a few crazy experiences of unexpected visitors in our camp, navigating deep sand, nerve racking river crossings and washed out roads.
