Don’t live in SA? You can help save the endangered rhino by writing letters to South Africa’s President Zuma, contact your local zoo, volunteer and more to help stop animal poaching.
“I don’t live in South Africa, how can I help save the rhino?”
After hearing that sadly over 90 rhino have been killed in the first two months of this year (2012) this question was asked once again, and it was time to take a closer look.
Good people everywhere around the world are reaching out and asking, “How can I help? How can I help stop this horrible animal poaching”
Ayesha Copeland Cantor and several others from the Facebook group Outraged SA Citizens Against Poaching offered some practical suggestions.
Here are 7 Ways You Can Help Stop Rhino Poaching
- Where ever in the world you may live -
ONE:
Tell the South Africa’s President Zuma how you feel
Talk about your concern for the rhino’s survival as a species, other wildlife now being poached as well, the impact on tourism, the local people and so on.
-
Write letters to the South Africa’s President Zuma.
-
Write them yourself
-
Get your kids and their friends ( schools) to send a postcard to our pres ( preferably on red card )
-
Lobby your local radio stations and newspapers

SEVEN
Donate to your rhino protection organization of choice. Be careful here not all are legitimate. Nikela Rhino Rescue can also accept your donation (100% of your donation goes to save rhino)

President Zuma,
I would like to consult you on the fact of rhino poaching. I do believe that it is very cruel and wrong for these innocent animals to lose their lives over such silly things as their horn and you are allowing it. This seriously needs to stop how can you live knowing that you are killing innocent animals and the babies are losing their mothers and fathers. I would sincerely love it to come to a halt! ASAP!!!!!!
P.s. the money is not worth taking an innocent life.

That’s terrific Jen… as we don’t want to put any rhino at risk I’ll get back with you on this via email.
Dear Margrit,
I would love if you could also please provide me with some information on volunteer work. I am also keen to get involved hands on – I am not at a place where I can afford to do it for a long period, but would LOVE to get an opportunity to become involved closer to Pretoria (where I live).
I would appreciate any information you might have?
Kind regards,
Eugene
Hello Eugene… that’s terrific. Will shot you an email
Iam so sick and tired of hearing about so called concerned organizations that are asking for assistance in this project.
THERE IS ONLY ONE SOLUTION. CAPTURE THE MURDERING BASTARDS, AND HANG THEM
Bill can totally understand your anger and frustration. There are many so called “rhino orgs” and yet the killing still continues. Just today we were alerted to one of these orgs that are nothing but a scam, which sadly is not the first time.
Sadly killing the poachers is like getting rid of pawns, there’s always another one willing to take his place. It a simplistic nutshell, its a matter of apprehending the illegal trade king pins and ending the buying (huge tasks as both have gotten out of hand.)
It is a complex issue because money is to be made… the problem needs to be handled on the ground (to protect the rhino that are left), end the corruption that abounds on multiple fronts, curb the infiltration of organized crime in South Africa, and stop the demand for rhino horn and other wildlife products in Asia and else where in the world.
I live in Cape Town and would love to actually help save the rhino. Does anyone know how i can do that??
Glad you’re willing to help save rhino… will send you an email to let you know how you can help via Nikela via blog writing, graphic design, social media, research to name a few.
