In a Nutshell

What if the Wildlife could save the Children and in turn the Children saved the Wildlife?

A shy lad from a poor family is sponsored to attend a week at a wildlife bush school. He is given responsibility to feed and comfort an orphaned Duiker (small buck) and learns about career opportunities in conservation and ecotourism. Some time later he surprises his family. A cheetah with cubs is preying on the village goats. Angry men with clubs gather. The boy pleads with his father to call wildlife conservation to remove the cheetahs. His father relents. A cheetah family is saved. A boy’s life changed.

Wildlife is South Africa! Making up only 1% of the world’s land mass the country is home to almost 10% of our planets wild animals, birds, and reptiles. As many of these species are found only in South Africa, tourism is a vital industry.

Half Are Gone
Since 1970 over half of the large mammals have disappeared from the game parks in Africa and since 2005 the rate is accelerating.

Dedicated Experts are Aging
The conservationists, rehabbers, and scientists are a unique group of passionate and skilled experts. However they are getting older and replacements to continue their work are in short supply.

Rising Generation is Losing Ground
Only 25% finish high school and only 5% go on to college. Over 50% of the young people are unemployed while wildlife experts are in desperate need of help.

Hopeless? Or Grand Opportunity
It’s a no brainer to predict what will happen if the trends for the wildlife and the children continue.
However, in every crisis lies a grand opportunity. What if thru opportunities in conservation and ecotourism the wildlife could save the children and in turn the children thru their compassionate service saved the wildlife?

NIKELA finds and qualifies experts and certifies wildlife conservation and education projects. YOU choose and give to the one that grabs you. EXPERTS protect the endangered wildlife and educate the children to find their place in the world of conservation and ecotourism.

But that’s not all. With the internet connecting us together as a huge community of people who care, just a little from a lot gets the job done.

So, may we invite you to take a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to lunch once a month and donate the difference to the expert and project of your choice. And then, please invite your Face Book friends and others to do the same. And just maybe the simple PB&J will become famous for changing the future!
