Nikela to Date
What an amazing adventure! Evaluating, understanding, getting connected, and meeting with those in the know over the past few months. It has been a challenge to get all our technology, legal, and financial ducks in a row. But things are off the ground and beginning to fly.
Nikela has worked hard to:
- Understand and verify the needs of South Africa Wildlife and Children (Apr – Nov 2010)
- Brainstorm with over 100 conservationists, educators, government officials, business owners, bankers, and interested parties especially during a 34 day tour of South Africa (Apr – Nov 2010)
- Attain legal recognition as a nonprofit corporation (June 2010) 501.c.3 tax exempt status (Jan 2011)
- Certify 12 initial Wildlife protection and education projects with final onsite visits (fall 2010)
- Develop and continue to refine the Wildlife Saving Children and Children Saving Wildlife Model
- Expand the donor net work through social media and grant writing (Fall 2010 and on going)
- Complete the initial phases of the donor/receiver web site and other online tracking, financial and administrative programs (Sept – Dec 2010)
- Fund our first projects in January 2011
- Develop “Celebrate Wildlife” a major education initiative to be piloted Mar 2011
